After months of testing on several different Megane 3 RS models we are now pleased to offer our KTR Stage 1 hybrid turbo. The turbo features an uprated thrust bearing, re-profiled compressor cover and a larger, billet high flow compressor wheel. The core is then dynamically balanced.
The idea of the hybrid turbo is to produce good, usable power right across the rev range and this can be seen in the graphs. You will also see how much power the car has gained without having to increase the boost pressure. The design of the turbo allows it to hold onto the boost at the higher rpm resulting in performance that does not drop off as the revs increase, this makes it a very good upgrade for those using their car on track.
We have carried out many hours of track testing with the turbo installed and the cars performance was greatly increased due to the wider spread of power and torque, and because we do not need to increase the boost the inlet temperatures are kept down.
The picture of the graph above shows a comparison on the same car. The lower power/torque figures are from when the car was standard, the middle figures show the car fitted with our intercooler, exhaust and ecu remap and the final higher power figures of 340bhp and 370lbs/ft. This shows gains of 46bhp and over 22lbs/ft of torque (peak figures) just by fitting the hybrid turbo and carrying out a new ecu remap to suit the hybrid turbo. Power figures will vary though depending on supporting modifications, mapping and health of the engine.
To get the best results from the turbo you will need to have your ecu remapped and we would also recommend the fitment of a large bore exhaust system, decat pipe and alloy intercooler. Our ecu remap for the hybrid turbo is available with our Renflash mapping tool.
