We now have our new lightweight flywheel available for all 172 and 182 models. It is a single piece billet steel flywheel that weighs just 3.2kg compared to the 5.3kg of the standard flywheel, this is a 45% weight saving.
This weight saving reduces the rotational mass that the engine has to turn and this results in a more responsive, faster revving engine. Many race cars use light weight flywheels to improve engine response so it is only natural the same upgrades can be used on a road car with similar results in mind.
The flywheel is a direct replacement flywheel, and uses the same fittings as the standard flywheel, so any standard or aftermarket 172/182 clutch can be fitted without any problems. This is definitely an upgrade to consider should you need to change your clutch.
