Explore the Legacy of Hyundai's Performance Evolution with the i20N and Scorpion Redpower Exhausts
Since its inception in the late 1960s, Hyundai, South Korea's leading automobile manufacturer, has been synonymous with producing reliable family sedans. However, the company's trajectory took a thrilling turn with the emergence of Hyundai Motorsport in the world of competitive racing. Debuting in the World Rally Championship (WRC) in 2014, Hyundai Motorsport swiftly ascended the podium, ultimately clinching consecutive manufacturers' titles. This triumphant journey paved the way for the birth of Hyundai's N division, dedicated to infusing motorsport-inspired performance into their road cars. The crowning jewel arrived in 2018 with the launch of the i30N, marking Hyundai's entry into the realm of high-performance hot hatches.
The i30N's resounding success caught the attention of EXCELR8 Motorsport, leading to Hyundai's foray into the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) in 2020. Their continued success on the BTCC circuit, coupled with Scorpion's technical collaboration, solidifies the synergy between track and road technologies. Scorpion's partnership with Hyundai dates back to the late 1990s when they supported the UK-based company MSD (Motor Sport Developments), instrumental in bringing Hyundai into the WRC fold. During this era, the F2 Hyundai Accent, driven by Alister McRea, graced the WRC stage for three years. In addition to various technical projects, Scorpion played a pivotal role in MSD's exhaust program during this time.
Crafted from premium T304 stainless steel, our 76mm/3" pipework forms the foundation of a comprehensive exhaust system, segmented into four key sections: the Downpipe, Front flex pipe, GPF-delete, and GPF-back system. Our GPF-delete component offers the choice of a resonated or non-resonated option, while the GPF-back system is available in both valved and non-valved variants. The valved system harnesses the car's original motor and can be conveniently operated by the driver using the drive mode select button within the vehicle. Alternatively, the non-valved option eliminates the valve entirely, delivering a consistently sportier exhaust note. The versatility of our products lies in their flange fitting, enabling seamless integration with the OEM exhaust system, affording buyers the flexibility to upgrade in stages.
Installing the Scorpion exhaust system yields a tangible reduction in weight compared to the stock OE system, an enhancement that most drivers will find irresistible. When applicable, Scorpion systems are equipped with acoustically engineered silencers, ensuring a drone-free experience across the entire rev range. Elevating the Hyundai's visual appeal, we offer a choice of two handpicked finishes for signature Daytona tailpipe style: the polished Daytona or the black ceramic Daytona. These options empower drivers to customize their vehicles with precision-engineered products, tailoring their systems to suit individual preferences and elevate the aesthetics of the Hyundai i20N.
